Why I started it
There is no platform where people can bet peer to peer. I saw the gap on a golf course. My friends and I wanted to bet on the round, and settling it was a pain: nobody carries cash any more, so someone has to chase everyone on Venmo afterwards. That is the whole problem Obbify solves. You bet with the people you are with, and the platform holds and settles the money.
What Obbify does
You name the bet the way you would say it, set the same stake for every player and invite your friends by username, link or QR. Each stake is locked the moment a player accepts, so nobody can back out and nobody has to chase anyone for money afterwards. Players confirm who won, the pot lands in the winner's balance minus a flat 3% fee, and disputes go to review.
Only skill-based contests are allowed: golf, tennis, a 5K time, chess, trivia, anything with a scoreboard and a winner between the people who put the money in. Luck-based bets are refused before they go live. Every player is age and identity checked, and deposit limits and self-exclusion are built in from day one.
What I did
I took the idea to iGaming conferences, including SBC, to test it with people who work in the field, and came back with validation that it can work. On that basis I partnered with private angels, experts in the field and Ewagers, who became an investor and licensing partner, to get licences in 42 US states.
Where it is now
$300K in licensing and investment deals with partners including Ewagers and angel investors. Working through licensing in 42 US states with Ewagers.
What is next
Get licensed and launch in the first states.
